Dagmar Amtmann is a Research Professor at the University of Washington (UW), Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and the Principal Investigator of the UW Center on Outcomes Research in Rehabilitation (UWCORR) that houses numerous projects related to measuring of health outcomes. She leads the outcomes measurement core of the NIH funded outcomes research in prosthetic and orthotics, and is PI of the National Data and Statistical Center for NIDILRR funded Burn Model System that tracks and examines health outcomes after burn injury. During the last 20 years, she has been involved in a number of federally funded projects. Her roles varied from leading the projects to providing statistical support for qualitative and quantitative research and using modern psychometric methods to develop item banks. She also teaches graduate level health outcomes measurement courses. She was PI for NIH funded Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Initiative System (PROMIS) primary research site (2004-2010) that developed a suite of Item Response Theory based item banks for measuring health domains, such as pain, physical function and fatigue. She led the development of the PROMIS pain item banks (intensity, interference, quality).
