Sherrie Brown, Research Professor in the College of Education at the University of Washington and adjunct Research Professor in the School of Law, has worked on disability rights issues in both the private and public sectors as well as internationally for over thirty years.  She is Associate Director of the University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) and the Director of the Community Disability Policy at the Center for Human Development and Disability, University of Washington.  As the policy and funding specialist for UWCTDS she provides training and advocacy assistance for AT consumers and their families.

Dr. Brown teaches Special Education Law, American School Law, and Human and Civil Rights for Disabled Individuals at the University.  Her academic focus is in the implementation of human and civil rights for children and individuals with disabilities.  To this end she has been involved in various international, national, and local legal policy initiatives focusing on the rights of children in juvenile justice, ensuring the decision-making and informed consent rights for individuals with intellectual disabilities, and assistive and information technology access for disabled individuals.
